Scope of This Policy

This Policy applies only to information collected through the Site, including via SunOpta’s social media channels. Personal Information – How It’s Collected

SunOpta collects Personal Information that our visitors manually provide using their mouse, keyboard, mobile devices, or otherwise. We also collect information you provide when you register with, log on to, or enhance your profile on the Site by choosing to automatically populate the requested data fields with information you previously provided to a third-party social media platform (such as Facebook or Twitter). Personal Information – Type of Information Collected

We only save Personal Information associated with questions and requests in our customer service database (unless otherwise stated in this Policy, data which does not expire and is retained) in order to respond to those questions and requests and to better serve you when responding to any questions or requests you may have in the future.

Emails: Some of our pages allow visitors to register to receive periodic emails from us and/or to receive calls or other contacts from us. Any promotional email you receive from SunOpta will allow you to “unsubscribe” from this informational service at any time. Security, Credit, or Fraud Prevention: SunOpta may use your information to protect its rights or the rights of others, to comply with the law, a court order, or a subpoena, or to protect the security of our Site or its terms of use.

Non-Personal Information

SunOpta collects a variety of non-personal information, such as information about the operating system on your computer, the type of web browser you are using, your IP address, and the links you followed to enter and leave the Site. This information is not by itself personally identifiable and is collected automatically via the use of cookies (small computer files saved on your hard drive) and other standard web technology by SunOpta or a third party.

If you reject cookies, functionality of the Site may be limited, and you may not be able to take advantage of many of our Site’s features.

If SunOpta is involved in a sale of a substantial portion of its business assets, information about you may be among the transferred assets.

You must be at least 13 years old to have our permission to use the Site. We do not knowingly collect, use or disclose personal information about visitors under 13 years of age. Your Choices

In General. We respect your right to make choices about the ways we collect, use, and disclose your information. This Policy describes some of your choices, such as your choice to opt out of receiving “cookies.” We may ask you to indicate your choices at the time and on the page where you provide your information.

Email preferences. You can opt out of promotional emails we send to you. If you wish to stop receiving promotional emails, simply select “unsubscribe” located at the bottom of each communication.

Text preferences. You can opt out of receiving text messages from us by following the instructions on text messages that you receive from us. In addition, with text messages, you can opt-out by replying STOP at any time and you can receive assistance by replying HELP.

Do Not Track Mechanisms. California law requires this Policy to address how we respond to any “Do-Not-Track (‘DNT’) signal” delivered by your browser. Because of the changing state of technology and indecision within the industry regarding the meaning of DNT signals, we do not make any guarantee that we will honor DNT signals. California Residents – California Consumer Privacy Act

The following information applies to California residents using terms consistent with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (the “CCPA”).

California law requires businesses to disclose whether certain information is collected, sold, or otherwise transferred for a business purpose.  The list of what SunOpta collects and shares is listed above and is comprehensive, which means it may include information that is does not apply to you but applies to others.

Right to Request Access. Under certain circumstances and upon your request, the law may require SunOpta to grant you access to the personal information we hold about you.

Right to Request Deletion or Correction. Under certain circumstances you may request that SunOpta delete your personal information.  SunOpta may also delete your personal information if it is determined your data is incomplete, inaccurate, or that the continued storage of your information is not required. Under certain circumstances you may also request that SunOpta correct inaccurate information.

Annual Data Requests. SunOpta is required to report its annual consumer data requests relating to access, deletion, and correction.  In 2023 SunOpta received no requests for access to personal information pursuant to the CCPA.  In 2023 SunOpta received no requests for deletion or correction of personal information pursuant to the CCPA.

Selling Your Information. SunOpta does not sell your personal information.
